汽车撞入昆州中餐馆致命案判决 肇事女司机被轻判罚款$500元

据2008年2月22日《Courier Mail》报道， 去年10月在昆州中部一家中餐馆就餐的一名50岁妇女被失控汽车撞入致死案2月20日判决。26岁的被告Sonia Harrison被法庭轻判罚款$500元。

被告是一名年轻的母亲，她承认不小心驾驶及疏忽等罪名，由于案发后她与警方充分合作，并对所造成的惨剧深感内咎，获得法官轻判。

事发在2007年10月25日傍晚7点左右，在昆州中部Longreach地区Eagle Street的一家名叫Harry Valley的中餐馆，一辆汽车突然失控，冲上行人路撞穿中餐馆临街的玻璃，餐馆内一对男女首当其冲；50岁的女食客Kristine McNally当时背向街被撞个正着，急送当地医院，稍 后告不治。其55岁的丈夫Michael McNally也告受伤，敷药后出院。

中餐馆李姓东主(Steven Li)向记者表示，自己当时在厨房，没有目睹事发经过。他对这起事件感到震惊及悲伤。

李老板表示，事主可能嫌空调风口正对着自己吹，就拣坐了另一张桌台，结果反而飞来横祸，如果她坐在原先坐的那张餐台便会没事。

79岁婆婆墨尔本Box Hill被公交巴士撞倒生命垂危

据2008年2月12日AAP报道，2月11日周一中午12点左右，一名79岁的婆婆墨尔本华人聚居区Box Hill过马路时，被一辆公交巴士撞倒，伤势严重，生命垂危。

意外发生时这名婆婆正在Box Hill接近Station Road的十字路口横穿Whitehorse Road主干道，一辆右转弯的公交巴士没注意一下子撞倒了她。肇事巴士司机正在协助警方调查，警方呼吁有目击这起意外事故的民众致电1800 333 000，或致电98747000与Whitehorse市交通管理中心高级警官Aaron Gribble联络。

悉尼西区三岁女童在家居车道被撞重伤

据2008年2月12日AAP报道，12日早上8点半，在悉尼西区Fairfield的Campbell Street，一名三岁女童被一辆从家居车道倒出来的四轮驱动汽车撞倒，头部受重伤，被送往Westmead儿童医院加护病房抢救。

警方已对30岁肇事男子进行问话，并继续调查，目前尚无人被起诉。

澳洲每年有约50名少年儿童在自家车道上被车辆轧伤或碾毙。有孩子家长们千万要引起足够的重视！

The circumstances are always awful but perhaps most sadly, many of these deaths and injuries are caused by family members and could have been avoided.

However, there are a number of preventative measures that you can take to help ensure your child's safety.

Things you can do to help prevent such a tragedy:

• Always supervise your children whenever a vehicle is to be moved - hold their hands or hold them close to keep them safe.
• If you're the only adult at home and need to move a vehicle, even only a small distance, place children securely in the vehicle with you while you move it.
• A driveway is actually a small road - discourage children from using it as a play area.
• Make access to the driveway from the house difficult for a child, possible using security doors, fencing or gates.
