Asylum seekers will be offered sweeteners to return to the countries they fled under a $5 million reintegration program announced by the government yesterday.

Opposition immigration spokesman Scott Morrison said,"This initiative appears very much like an afterthought and is effectively providing a donation to the IOM in place of a clear strategy for repatriation.The Failure to implement a returns policy or repatriation strategy is emerging as one of the key, ongoing factors as to why we have a detention crisis."
