身家过亿的反对党领袖谭布尔（Malcolm Turnbull）不仅是澳洲政客中的首富，这位律师和投资银行家出身的悉尼东区议员，也获悉尼一班富豪捐钱力挺。
自2007年以来，澳洲的富人们已为谭布尔奉献了超过140万澳元的选举经费。
这位自由党党魁的筹款分支机构Wentworth Forum论坛，获电视七台董事长、传媒大亨Kerry Stokes、Westfield购物中心房产大王，全澳最富有的人之一Frank Lowy、前麦觉理银行老板Alan Moss，以及Aussie Home Loans房贷公司创办人John Symond捐款。
该论坛由谭布尔的老朋友自由党财务总监Michael Yabsley打理。它是2007年谭布尔成为霍华德总理的环境部长时设立，被认为是澳洲最精明的政治筹款机器。
要成这一论坛的成员，需要交5500澳元的费用，要成为它的创会成员，则需要交11,000澳元，要成为赞助人，需要付16,500澳元，要成为它的捐助人，则需要交25,500澳元，想当它的理事，更需要交55,000澳元。
一位理事可以主持以坛论名义进行的活动。它还主持两次大型的筹款会，谭保出席活动，并与捐政治献金多的支持者同桌用餐。
另据报道，虽然近期谭布尔在民意测验中声望仍持续低落，但他表示，他领导的自由党国家党联盟，仍能赢得下次联邦大选。
前天公布的News Poll民调显示，自由党国家党联盟的基本选票稍升二个百分点，为39%，而工党的基本选票稳定在43%。
如果这一结果保持到下次联邦大选，反对党仍会大败。
