The University of Newcastle study has found the traditional battler suburbs will bear the brunt of the financial crisis but the outer mortgage belts of Australia's major cities will become new pockets of severe financial distress.
At-risk Melbourne suburbs include Albanvale, Attwood, Frankston North, Thomastown and Lalor.

在受调查的地区中，有15%很有可能成为失业率高地区。因为墨尔本拥有更多劳动力密集型工业和制造业，所受的影响会最大。此外，阿德莱德和昆州偏远区也是失业高危地区。
墨尔本的失业高危地区包括Albanvale, Attwood, Frankston North, Thomastown和Lalor。
悉尼的外围地带也将受到影响，除西及西南区外，西北区及部份中岸区将会出现大量失业者。其中Auburn, Fairfield和Blacktown受到失业的影响最大，内城区和下北岸则最安全。
类似情况在澳洲各大州府城市都同样出现。
