未能及时参加入籍宣誓 移民部取消新加坡华裔家庭澳洲国籍

Singaporean documentary maker Khee Jin Ng, his wife May Leng Teo and their four children were granted citizenship in September 2009 but three months later, they returned to Singapore because of "a sudden change in work circumstances".Their Australian citizenship cancelled after they did not take the oath will have to start the process from scratch, a tribunal has ruled.

据2011年7月2日《西澳洲人报》报道，一个来自新加坡的移民家庭，因没能及时参加当地市政厅举行的公民入籍宣誓仪式而被取消了澳洲国籍。

新加坡纪录片制片人吴先生（Khee Jin Ng）和太太张女士（May Leng Teo）以及4名子女2004年抵达西澳珀斯，2009年9月获得澳洲国籍，但是3个月后，由于“工作环境突然变化”而回到了新加坡，未能按规定在12个月内进行入籍宣誓。

目前这家人的居留签证将在2013年中到期，在此之前他们都还可以自由出入澳洲。不过如果他们要想获得澳洲国籍的话，必须重新进行申请，即必须连续在澳洲至少居住4年。
