首都堪培拉一男子遭警方射击瘫痪获偿800万

A man rendered a quadriplegic after being shot by police almost a decade ago has been awarded $8 million in damages.Justice Hilary Penfold this afternoon entered judgment for Jonathan Crowley for the sum of $8 million after the parties in a mammoth negligence case came to agreement.

据2011年6月12日澳广报道，澳洲首都堪培拉一名被警察射中颈部而四肢瘫痪的男子，6月10日获法庭判决得到800万澳元赔偿。

2001年，克劳利（Jonathon Crowley）在堪培拉查普曼（Chapman）区精神病发作，用竹棍打伤数人。警方在用辣椒水喷雾剂阻止无效后，高级警员皮特凯思利（Glenn Pitkethly）开枪射中其颈部。

现年43岁的克劳利目前四肢瘫痪，不得不靠年迈的父母抚养。2008年，克劳利一家将当年的开枪警员、澳联邦警察和首都行政区精神卫生厅三方告上法庭，称他们玩忽职守。

上个月，在保留其决定两年后，法官彭福尔德（Hilary Penfold）判处上述三方玩忽职守罪成立。本周法院得到消息这一判决很可能被上诉。在补偿克劳利的伤害损失后，法官彭福尔德宣布此案休庭，待8月8日重新开庭。
