2056年全澳总人口将突破3500万

Our population has been boosted by 17.6 million people since 1901, with net overseas migration adding more than natural growth has contributed since 2006.We will swell to more than 35 million by 2056.The populations of Queensland and Western Australia are expected to more than double in 50 years.

据2010年6月5日《Herald Sun》报道，澳洲统计局周五公布的最新年鉴预计，到2056年，全澳总人口将突破3500万，并在2101年达到4470万。50年后，昆州和西澳的人口将翻番。

1901年时，澳洲总人口只有370万。到2056年，新州仍将是人口最稠密的地区，届时新州总人口将达1020万，其中约700万人居住在悉尼。

不过，澳洲人口增速最快的将会是昆州和西澳这两个资源大州。昆州总人口预计将从2007年的420万飙升至2056年的880万；同期西澳总人口将从210万猛增至430万。

澳洲人的平均寿命依然名列全球前茅，1901年时澳洲男性平均寿命只有55.2岁，但到2007年时，男性平均已达79岁，澳洲女性寿命比男性更长，同期她们的平均寿命从58.5岁增加到了83.7岁。
