澳截获载83人寻求庇护船只 一周内第三艘

Authorities have today intercepted another boat carrying suspected asylum seekers off the north-west coast of Australia.

Border Protection intercepted the vessel, carrying 83 passengers and 4 crew at midnight, about 80 nautical miles south of Ashmore Island.

据2009年9月13日《悉尼晨锋报》报道，澳洲海军在西北部阿什莫尔岛附近水域，截获一艘载有83人的船只，船上人士声称要寻求政治庇护。这是一周内第三艘被截获的偷渡船只。联邦反对党称政府的难民政策已经失控，呼吁对此展开调查。

据报道，澳洲海军在周六零时左右发现该艘船只，在距离阿什莫尔岛对开八十海里，船上人士安全。查问期间，他们表示欲到澳洲寻求庇护。暂时不知他们的国籍，他们将会被送往澳在印度洋的海外领地圣诞岛，核实身份及做健康检查。
