悉尼警方发现来自中国的大量澳洲废弃硬币

POLICE are warning people to look out for mutilated $2 coins after arresting a man for laundering the damaged currency through Sydney vending machines.

Police charged the 26-year-old with fraud and goods in custody, after they said they caught him feeding dodgy coins into vending machines at a shopping centre in Chatswood, in Sydney's north.

据2009年5月30日澳联社报道，悉尼一名26岁男子因使用大量被损坏的$2澳元硬币骗取正常钱币被警方逮捕。

警方表示，该名男子被捕时将被损坏的$2两元硬币投进悉尼北区Chatswood一家购物中心的自动售货机来换取正常的硬币。他们在他身上搜出了1600枚硬币。随后对这名男子住宅的搜查又发现了7500枚类似硬币。警方相信这些坏损的澳洲硬币是该男子从中国购买并带入澳洲。

警方目前正在调查澳大利亚皇家造币厂是否将坏损硬币运到中国以作废料回收之用。
