联邦工党新政策下首批难民在南澳定居

THE first group of asylum-seekers to be processed at Christmas Island under the Rudd Government's new migration policies has been granted permanent protection visas and is expected to arrive in South Australia.

The 28 Afghan and Iranian asylum-seekers were granted the visas after showing they had a well-founded fear of persecution or death if forced to return home.

据2009年1月17日《澳洲人报》报道，一批获得联邦政府准予长期居留的难民将在南澳州定居。

这批乘船抵达澳大利亚的28名来自阿富汗和伊朗的寻求庇护者是去年在西澳州沿海被澳大利亚当局截获的。

联邦政府说，这18名大人和10名儿童如果回国的话有遭到迫害的危险。
